The Client
The Capacity Building Initiative was developed by the Central Community Support Services Network, comprised of 44 member agencies, to address the need for infrastructure development in this sector. Financial support was given to this initiative by the Central Local Health Integration Network through the Aging at Home Strategy. CBI’s aim is that future clients will have access to a comprehensive basket of community support services tailored to their unique situation.
The Envision IT SolutionThe Capacity Building Initiative engaged Envision IT to provide their team with a forum to share information with each other as well as external stakeholders, agencies and generally interested parties. An Intranet and Extranet developed on Windows SharePoint Services technology were built with a focus on the priorities of the initiative – Leadership, Information Management, Quality and HR. In addition to a standard WSS Intranet, Envision IT deployed the Extranet User Manager which allows users to self-register for private areas of the site and retrieve lost passwords without going through an administrator.
The Results
- Member agencies provide input in a streamlined fashion before content is published to the public
- Workflows and approvals processes ensure timely publishing of completed content
- Custom user surveys provide valuable information for the initiative
- Users self-register to the site, and once approved have access to specific areas
- Forgotten and password resets require no administrator intervention
