The Client 

Constellation HomeBuilder Systems is the leader and most progressive homebuilding construction software company in North America. Constellation has helped more than 2,100 homebuilding companies grow with homebuilding software technology solutions to run their business from dirt to warranty. From planning to homeowner services, Constellation has land development, new home sales and marketing, production, purchasing, scheduling, accounting and vendor portal solutions designed specifically for the home building industry. Through acquisition and new product development, Constellation has begun consolidating the homebuilding construction software industry, while incorporating new technology and improving product quality, customer support, product documentation, software development and deployment processes.

The Envision IT Solution

Envision IT has worked with Constellation to create a SharePoint portal that allows Constellation’s customers and employees to securely login, using a customized version of Envision IT’s Extranet User Manager. Users are authenticated against Constellation’s SalesLogix CRM database. They have access to product support information and are able to download product utilities, view streaming media, and attend online training events. Many custom web parts, Health Check and Current Issues, were created that call a web service, which in turn queries the SalesLogix database, to retrieve customer-specific information.  Constellation has also developed a WebEx integration web part to display a list of upcoming WebEx sessions for customers and employees.

The Results 

• A self-service site for customers to login and provision their own accounts
• Users can create their own passwords and retrieve forgotten passwords
• Branding that is consistent with Constellation’s internet site
• Secure site access for users
• Changes in SalesLogix are reflected in the user permissions for various sites and the information that is displayed within the site
