Envision IT Wins Silver at 2009 CDN Channel Elite Awards
Open House Portal for Canadian Tire wins Silver in the Green Solution Category
Toronto, September 30, 2009. Envision IT is pleased to announce that they have won the Silver Medal for the Best Green Solution in the 2009 CDN Channel Elite Awards for the Canadian Tire Open House Portal solution. CDN's Channel Elite Awards recognizes IT Solution Providers for their innovation, leadership and commitment to creating value for their customers. This year's awards recognized Solution Providers in nine categories, with winners announced at a gala event on September 29, 2009.
Envision IT is excited to be honoured for the first time in the Best Green Solution category. This new award recognizes the solution that most effectively serves to reduce environmental impact. The winning solutions will have effectively proven ways of reducing energy consumption, the carbon footprint or the ecological impact of a business activity or function or, by design, the solution itself has demonstrably less negative impact on the environment than alternative solutions.
Envision IT developed the Open House Portal for Canadian Tire Corporation as the primary source for communication between the Canadian Tire Home Office and the Associate Stores. The Portal, built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, has improved execution of retail programs through enhanced communications. Along with the environmental savings that this solution is expected to generate, it is also anticipated that there will be huge direct savings in costs associated with the elimination of millions of pieces of paper printed and physically distributed to the stores annually. Other quantified benefits expected from stores having the most current communications at all times include:
- Improved Execution of Retail Programs: Improved execution of retail programs and enhanced customer experience through the network of stores. Tasks related to implementing actions in the communications are more effectively shared across employees throughout the stores.
- Consistency of Message: All communications are funnelled through an editorial and approval process to ensure consistency of message, categorization and prioritization
- Improved Productivity: Operational efficiencies through quick and easy retrieval of information. Metadata capture contributes to the rich search capabilities of the site
- Two-way Communication: Integration of publishing workflows and end user access provide a means for all home office staff to initiate communications, and become involved. A feedback mechanism provides an efficient process for stores to ask questions and report issues from the store floor
