Migration Tools

There are a variety of third-party tools available to perform the migration to Microsoft 365. The two most common we use are the SharePoint Migration Tool and Sharegate, with Sharegate being our preferred tool.

While the SharePoint Migration Tool is free, we find that the Sharegate tool works more reliably, covers more scenarios, and scales well for large migrations. It also integrates well with the output from our inventory, analyze, and planning phases.

Sharegate can be used interactively, and we often train our clients to perform the migration themselves. This work can be spread across different representatives from different parts of the organization.

When doing larger migrations on behalf of organizations, we leverage the output from our inventory and planning phases. These Excel files can be used as inputs to Sharegate to execute the migrations according to the plan.
