Mississauga, November 1, 2010 - The Microsoft Corporation officially launched the revamped Microsoft Partner Network, an evolution of the company's industry-leading partner program that has been two years in the making. The revamped program equips Microsoft partners with the training, resources and support they need to successfully compete in today's marketplace and allows customers to easily identify the right partner for their technology needs.
Microsoft Action Pack Subscriptions will give partners access to software, development tools, training and market visibility. Going forward, partners will renew their annual Microsoft Partner Network memberships under the new structure. Instead of the old three tier system - Gold Certified, Certified and Registered - there are now Silver and Gold Competencies. Silver Competency requires certification in two of 29 Microsoft competencies, while Gold Competency requires four and additional customer references.
Gold Competency rewards include new solution-based incentives that reward Gold Certified Partners driving sales in specific Microsoft solutions. They also include preferred location in Microsoft PinPoint, which puts partners in front of customers when the customers search for a Microsoft solution on a website.
In an interview with eChannelLine, Peter Mackenzie, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Envision IT said "We've seen a significant uptick in the opportunities coming in through PinPoint. Those kinds of opportunities were generated on your own in the past because the program wasn't as good at identifying the top tier of partners, but now we are really seeing those opportunities."
Mackenzie added that as a Gold Competency partner, they like the new emphasis on certification. "It's a significant investment, but it's meant to be," he said. "It shows that you are a committed partner on the latest technologies, and it lets those who have been investing for years stand out a little higher."
