Community Living Toronto engaged Envision IT to assist with the creation of a MOSS 2007 Intranet which will serve 1,400 staff spread across 60 locations. Never having used an intranet before, there was a huge amount of information stored on multiple shared drives, and paper-based documentation that must be kept for 15 years. It is expected that SharePoint will reduce the amount of paper records generated, and the cost of storing them. Regional staff will be able to easily collaborate on cases where this would have previously involved time-consuming shuffling back and forth. All staff will access the intranet site through a single, secure gateway that maintains the same look and feel as the public web site.
- A primary means of communication and collaboration among staff in different locations
- A significant reduction in paper-based records and the cost of storing them
- Standardized themes and templates, and branding that is consistent with the public site
- Secure access through a single gateway
- Training to get all staff quickly up to speed and lessen the burden on IT
