The C​​li​ent

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) represents the political, clinical, and economic interests of the province's medical​ profession. Practicing physicians, residents, and students enrolled in any of the six Ontario faculties of medicine are eligible for OMA membership.

Founded in 1880 as a voluntary association for the province`s physicians, OMA from the beginning has played a vital role in the development and promotion of healthcare services across Ontario.

Since 1956, OMA Insurance has been an advocate for doctors, using the group buying power of well over half of Ontario physicians to provide medical professionals with the right insurance coverage at every stage of their career.

The Chall​enge

OMA insurance had been marketed on the existing OMA web site as just one of the organization’s services, but in 2014 the OMA set out to build a separate, dedicated web site for OMA insurance. The marketing concept for the new site was to sell solutions and not individual products. The site would be targeted at four specific groups: medical students, residents, new physicians, and established physicians. OMA was looking for a modern, interactive, well designed site that would allow members to enjoy a personalized experience.

The ​​​Solution

Working collaboratively with the OMA and Yield Branding, Envision IT built a new website,, on the SharePoint 2013 platform that provided a user-friendly, intuitive and personalized user experience to site visitors. A modern design enhanced with lots of imagery and graphics compels visitors to navigate easily throughout the site.

The home page displays an introductory video that immediately provides visitors with a brief overview of OMA Insurance. Visitors are encouraged to select one of four career segments that describe their stage of career, and solutions are then presented that are tailored to each stage. Visitors are directed to solutions to help them protect their lifestyle, their business, or their assets. Interactive spider graphs allow visitors to select from different concerns they need to protect, such as homes, cars, or health care expenses, and then the visitor is guided to appropriate solutions to help them protect those areas of concern.

Throughout the site visitors are provided with resources and tools pertaining to the solution or product they are reviewing – from FAQ’s, to Fact Sheets, Premium Calculators to information on making a claim. A custom navigation allows users to navigate easily through the Products area. Contacting OMA Insurance is encouraged through the Find an Advisor page, Ask a Question form and Contact Us window, with links displayed prominently.

The site is AODA compliant, and training was provided to all content contributors allowing them to easily maintain the site on their own going forward.
